"This is why our membership works so hard to raise money.  This is what it's all about," commented Chapin Woman's Club member Mary Brennan as she watched her club's scholarships being presented to three seniors at the May 19, 2011 Chapin High School Awards Ceremony.

Each year the Chapin Woman's Club holds two major fundraisers, which allows members to return approximately $30,000 back to the Chapin community.  $15,000 of that was presented as scholarships at this year's awards ceremony.

Scholarship Chair Linda Marsh commented, "each of our young ladies was nominated by a Chapin High School staff member as someone who has motivation to succeed both in school and out, and has persevered despite obstacles or challenges placed in her path.  We had 32 nominations, and it was very difficult to narrow our selection."

Ms. Marsh went on to say, "these young ladies are not only successful students, but are active in school and community, busy with jobs and family responsibilities.  We are very proud and happy to be able to help them with these scholarships."  Each recipient will receive $5,000 toward her tuition.

Receiving scholarships  were: Miss Macy Caldwell, who will attend the University of South Carolina; Miss Ashlyn Durham who will attend Coastal Carolina; and Miss Carly Tucker who will attend the University of South Carolina.
